Little Explorer
This little guy is into everything and wants nothing of his own. He is now super curious but cautions which is what we wanted for him. We love watching him discover new things every day. Daycare was hard for me, probably more so than the baby. He had some tears but not many. According to his teachers he has done really well from day one and is a great eater (surprise surprise). The director always talks about how happy he is and explained when she needs a pick me up that she goes down to his class and plays with him and it just brightens her day. Check out his pics from school which I decided to use for his 9 months shoot along with all the new milestones he continues to blow through everyday! All cell phone pics by the way…this was one of his first days of school. Enjoy!
- Started daycare
- Takes 2-3 naps a day. Morning nap is anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, mid day nap is normally about 30 minutes. Afternoon nap is kind of up in the air….
- Bedtime is between 6:30-7:00pm.
- Has two bottom front teeth
- Teething so he puts everything possible in his mouth.
- Makes all kinds of fun noises to hear his own voice
- Speaks some words: Mama, and dada so far
- Enjoys looking in the mirror
- He whistles and knows to do it on queue…when he wants to.
- Loves a nice big sheet of paper. He shakes it to hear the sounds it makes. Occupies him for quite some time.
- Shakes whatever he can to make music and is always dancing. Loves the sound of morocco type things.
- Loves to be given praise….a good hand clap or a yay always puts a big smile on his face.
- Fascinated with shadows/shadow puppets, rays of light, reflections, etc.
- Drinks three 6 ounce bottles a day
- Eats mainly everything we eat with 2 snacks a day in between
- Practicing feeding himself with hands
- Favorite foods: leafy greens, sweet potatoes squash, fruit, beans, spaghetti
- Loves books, especially the ones that make sounds
- Crawls really fast
- Having a good time using his walker to run over mommy and daddy
- Likes throwing and dropping things…anything!
- Recognizes commands: No, come here, go, yes, etc.
- Separation anxiety has kicked in especially when mom and dad leave.
- He has temper tantrums. I can only imagine how hard it is when you can’t talk and say what you want and don’t want led alone what you are allowed to have and can’t have. So when we take something from him he really wants, the swinging, kicking and screaming begins. At this point we just respond firmly and seriously to correct this because he is still a baby and we can understand from his little point of view how frustrating this time is for him, but they must learn unfortunately like we all did.
- Likes knocking things over…if I stack blocks or his legos, he will literally stop what he is doing to come over and crash my creation then go back to what he was doing.
- Awesome fine motor skills! Baby turns light switches of and on with one finger, he spins wheels, knobs, gears, he opens and closes small things etc. He flips everything over to get a look at whats underneath. Engineer in the making!
- Enjoys baths
- Doesn’t like laying down so diaper changes and putting on clothes can be interesting. We generally just give him something to occupy him and all is well.
- Super wild sleeper! We often look on the monitor to see his feet where his head was…Lol
- Enjoys playing peak-a-boo
- Loves sitting in the front of the shopping cart
- Can entertain himself
- Extremely alert
- Thinks the phone is for him when it rings…enjoys talking to people on speaker phone.
- Favorite TV Channels: Baby First Channel, Nick Jr., Disney Jr., PBS Kids, and Netflix He will watch pretty much anything but loves most things animated and some not. We try to ensure he watches something educational. Baby First is an educational channel for babies so that’s our go to.
