Welcome to Brooklyn New York! Brandon is a boxing fan so we got tickets to the Lamont Peterson vs. Errol Spence Jr. fight and decided to stay in this part of town to ensure we were close to the venue where it was being held. The event was at the Barclay Center which was about a 15-20 minute walk. But hey, that’s nothing in New York right? Check out our trip…Enjoy!
Day 1 (Friday, January 19th) – Collect our bearings, find some good food and figure out what this side of town has to offer.
The Even Hotel – This is considered to be a wellness hotel. The rooms have modern decor with eucalyptus linens, there was a mood light on one of the night stands, yoga mats, resistance bands and other exercise equipment. They also have a health food market in the lobby area. I appreciated there concept!
The Smoke Joint – We hit the rode around 7am so it was closer to lunch time by the time we arrived. After we got settle we were ready to grab some good eats. This restaurant was just a 10 minute walk. Service was good and so was the food! We both recommend eating here if you are ever in the area.
The view from our room…on the 12th floor!
Madame Tussauds in Time Square
On our way back to Brooklyn…classic New York
Day 2 (Saturday, January 20th ) – Breakfast at Junior’s Restaurant and Central Park. We initially went for a nice carriage ride and a tour of the park, but ran into the Women’s march against Trump. It was quite invigorating! I will say I loved the creativity of the signs. Some I can’t repeat, but I agree with the messages they were portraying.
Madiba Restaurant (South African cuisine)…go there!
Boxing match at the Barclay Center. This was a first for both of us. We got there at about 7 and caught several preliminary fights. I’m sure this comes as no surprise, but please eat before you go. We got two fries, a water, and one beer for $31. We figured maybe twenty something but certainly not $31. No worries…it will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! Lol
Day 3 (Sunday, January 21st) – Our last day in New York. We got up, grabbed a quick breakfast and hit the road! Thanks for a wonderful time Brooklyn!
Check out our last trip to New York here…
