35th Birthday Weekend

Friday, October 20th (my actual birthday date)

The hubby took me to the Capital Grill in Baltimore for my birthday dinner.  We were immediately spoiled from the moment we stepped out of the car to when our served took our picture and bought it to us framed by the end of our night.  The valet parking was complimentary, the way our server ran up and down the menu talking about the food they had to offer was impressive, the food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect, our table was decorated and topped off with a hand written birthday card to me, and lastly my birthday dessert was a scrumptious little piece of heaven. Another place I would recommend to all! All pictures in this post were taken by cell phone with the exception of Skyline drive.

Saturday, October 21st

Skyline Drive…..FINALLY! I’ve been trying to get here for such a long time. October is so iffy….it can be cold, rainy, cool or just really nice. For the past few birthdays, the weather was really off or I already had plans. I heard fall is the best time of year to go and the leaves have typically changed by my birthday. We lucked out this year. The entrance fee for vehicles was $25 and they do take credit cards. The line to get in was 14 minutes long, but once you are in there is no traffic. Well there wasn’t any for us. There are four entrances to the park. We chose the Front Royal entrance which was closest to our home. Skyline Drive is 105 miles long (about 3 hours) and there are 75 overlooks. The highest elevation we made it to before exiting was 3474 at Hogback Mountain. There are several picnic areas and rest stops with bathrooms along the way. I wanted to take pictures of all the overlooks, but I was in too much amazement to pay attention to that which means I was really enjoying myself. We exited at Thornton Gap. We stopped and had a late lunch not too far from the Thornton Gap exit called the Sperryville Trading Cafe and Market. The people were friendly and the service was good. This place was the only restaurant we found not far from the exit and we were starved! I got a pulled pork BBQ sandwich with coleslaw and fries, he got a mushroom burger with toppings and potato chips. He snuck off and surprised me with a nice slice of homemade bread pudding. Mmmm!

Sunday, October 22nd

Family Birthday Dinner at the Rusty Scupper in Baltimore, MD. This is one of my favorite restaurants! Good food on the water,old stories, laughter and family is a good time to me. Me and Brandon always talk about how much we love how our families connect. Almost like we have always been….it’s a beautiful thing to see every time we get together. Yes there are three pictures of me below, but hey….it’s my birthday!!! I can do what I wanna! Enjoy!

I’m thankful God has blessed me with 35 wonderful years of life. I had a Fantabulous weekend! Thank you to all who contributed to my special day!
