Get Lost on Purpose

Lost Fall Files

I stumbled upon these photos while browsing through some pics on my computer. No clue how I missed these. The first time we came across this hidden treasure we were driving around…you know, getting lost on purpose like we often do and ended up here at Triadelphia Reservoir which derives from the Brighton Dam. We didn’t get to catch the dam in action so hopefully next time we visit we will get lucky. The reservoir is near Brookeville, Maryland and flows through Howard and Montgomery County. It’s maintained as a drinking water source for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC). It was only 20 minutes from my house. It appeared to be the perfect place to catch fall foliage so we made it a point to come back during the fall. Only to find we missed most of the leaves. We found a few trees that held out, but not many. One of the best sites they have to offer is the Azalea garden.  We hope to go back and see it this Spring!

The waters here were extremely calm and still and it was very quiet. There were a few people fishing from the sandy shores while others were canoeing. It’s a great place to come and clear your mind, skip rocks, have a picnic, read a book, meditate…or just be.
